Setting Keypad Modes

The following sub-sections review code definitions and site an example of how to program
that code into the WSSKP-1 keypad. Always refer to the Program Codes / Code Options /
Operation Modes Chart to ensure the code is applicable for the keypad operation you are
configuring – standalone, Wiegand, or combined.
Code 0 - Output Combinations
The keypad may be programmed for Wiegand and digital output combinations using and/or
conditions.
Option 0 (zero) default - Wiegand and digital output generated on a valid PIN. This
option does not require pressing the # key after a valid PIN entry.
Option 1 - Wiegand and digital output generated on valid PIN. This option requires
pressing the # key after a valid PIN entry.
Option 2 - Wiegand or digital output generated on a valid PIN. This option does not
require pressing the # key after a valid PIN entry.
Option 3 - Wiegand or digital output generated on a valid PIN. This option requires
pressing the # key after a valid PIN entry.
Note
When selecting the keypad for an 'or' condition – Options 2 and 3 – the PIN entered will
determine a Wiegand or digital output depending on whether you have stored the user PIN
in Codes 8 to 62. If the PIN number(s) were stored in the keypad, the keypad will transmit
a digital output. If you have not stored the PIN number(s) in the keypad, the unit will
transmit a Wiegand output only.
Steps to Program Output Combinations
The following example illustrates setting Code 0 to option 1 - Wiegand and digital output
generated on valid PIN entry. This option requires pressing the # key after a valid PIN
entry.
1.
Set the keypad for programming mode. See page 8.
2.
Press the * (star) key, then press the 0 (zero) key on the keypad.
3.
Then press the # key followed by the 1 (one) key on the keypad.
4.
Then press the # key. Three beeps confirm the code has been programmed.
If three beeps are not heard, repeat the preceding steps.
5.
Exit programming mode by pressing and holding the # key until you hear the double
beep.
Code 1 – Wiegand Bit Format
This feature determines the Wiegand bits transmitted from the WSSKP-1 keypad as an
output when directly wired to an access control unit (ACU).
Option 36 - Keyscan 36 bit proprietary format (default)
Option 26 - standard Wiegand 26 bit format
