Installation/Connections

The WSSKP-1 is suitable for indoor or outdoor installations. The keypad circuit board and
electronics are "water-resistant". However, if you are installing the WSSKP-1 outside,
mount it in a plastic housing to protect the keys from possible water seepage. Do not caulk
along the bottom of the WSSKP-1 so that any water accumulation can drain out the
bottom.
Please be sure to observe and comply with the following conditions when locating and
mounting the WSSKP-1:
Do not run keypad cables in the same conduit with AC power or signal cables.
Keep keypad cables at a minimum distance of 12 inches or 30 centimetres from AC,
computer data, telephone data, or electric lock cables.
Do not install keypads within 3.5 feet or 1.1 metres of computer CRT-type monitors.
Do not install readers in areas where broad spectrum EMI noise may be present.
Devices such as motors, pumps, generators, and AC switching relays can create EMI
noise.
Important
Keypads made by other manufacturers may not have the necessary Wiegand interface.
Hence the WSSKP-1 keypads will not operate in dual card and PIN modes; they will only
operate in card/reader simulation.
