13.9 Battery

Your vehicle is equipped with a Mahindra genuine battery. For longer, trouble-free
operation, keep the top of the battery clean and dry. Also, make certain the battery
cables are always tightly fastened to the battery terminals.
If you see any corrosion on the battery or terminals, remove the cables from the
terminals and clean with a wire brush. To prevent corrosion, apply petroleum jelly to
the battery terminals. Tighten loose terminals and hold down clamp nuts only enough
to keep the battery firmly in place. Tightening excessively may damage the battery
terminals.
13.9.1 For Best Battery Service
• Keep the battery securely mounted
• Keep the battery top clean and dry
• Keep the terminals and connections clean, tight and coated with petroleum jelly
or terminal grease
• Rinse any spilled electrolyte from the battery immediately with a solution of water
and baking soda
Do not disconnect battery terminals while the engine is running. This will
adversely affect all electronic controllers.
While removing the battery, always disconnect the negative terminal first. And
while installing the battery, ensure the negative terminal is connected last.

It is recommended that the negative battery cable terminal be disconnected from
the battery if you plan to store your vehicle for an extended period of time. This will
minimize the discharge of your battery during storage.
Battery fluid is a corrosive acid solution; do not allow battery acid to contact
eyes, skin or clothing. Don't lean over battery when attaching clamps or allow
the clamps to touch each other. If acid splashes in the eyes or on the skin, flush
contaminated area immediately with large quantities of water.
A battery generates hydrogen gas which is flammable and explosive. Keep any
flame or spark away from the vent holes.
Keep batteries out of reach of children. Battery posts, terminals and related
accessories contain lead and lead components. Wash hands after handling
batteries.
If the battery has been disconnected or a new battery has been installed, the
clock (if equipped) and the preset radio (if equipped) stations must be reset
once the battery is reconnected.
The replacement battery must meet the specification of the originally fitted
battery.
13.9.2 Battery Charge Indicator - Amaron (if equipped)
A battery charge indicator is provided for Amaron batteries to view the charge
status at a glance. Green indicates the battery is okay, and light blue indicates
battery needs recharge or technical assistance from Amaron.
