4.2. Charging behavior

The charging behavior depends on the procedure described in chapter 'Charging process'.
For this purpose, a suitable charger (ideally UPSI-2406) should be used. The BMS automati-
cally completes charging process when the following completion criteria have been met:
Abbreviation
Charge Term Taper Current
CUV_RECOV_CHG
The end-of-charge criteria are met when the current has dropped below the value of
the Charge Term Taper Current and at the same time end-of-charge criteria TC / FC are
fulfilled. When the end of charging is reached, the charging FET is deactivated.
Protective functions of temporary, reversible or permanent faults and short circuit detection
are not affected!
Charging an empty battery system:
As soon as a charger is connected and its output voltage is active, the BMS switches to
the ACTIVE MODE and the FETs are released (again). The pin "System Present" must be
switched to GND.
Successful completion of charging process:
When the limit values (end of charge) are reached, the flags FC and TC are set.
Abbreviation
TC
FC
The BMS also offers the option of determining the available residual capacity. For this pur-
pose, the cell internal resistance is recorded for each cell for different voltage levels and
updated via battery life.
