Replacing the Redundant Power Supply
Replacing the redundant (bottom) power supply requires some steps to be performed prior to the procedure described in the
previous section. The primary and redundant power supplies are essentially the same unit, but they are configured slightly
differently in order to fit into their slots in the chassis.
The replacement power supply kit is shipped with the power supply configured to replace the top (primary) PSU. If the lower
(redundant) power supply needs to be replaced instead, you must reconfigure new PSU so that its front plate (containing the
latch, handle, and thumbscrews) switches places with the metal strip on the power supply back panel.
To reconfigure a primary power supply as a redundant supply:
Perform steps 1 through 5

Remove the front plate containing the latch, handle, and thumbscrews by unfastening the three round-headed Philips screws

at the bottom of the plate (see figure 5). (Retain these screws to reattach the plate in step 4).

Remove the metal strip from the back of the power supply by unfastening the three flat-headed Philips screws (see figure 6).

(Retain these screws to reattach the strip in step 5).

Attach the front plate to the three holes at the bottom of the back panel using the three round-headed screws removed in

Attach the metal strip to the three holes at the bottom of the front panel using the three flat-headed screws removed in

NOTES:

When you have completed this procedure, the former front panel of the new redundant power supply becomes the
back panel, and vice versa.

Note that the connector pins on the right side of the power supply that were formerly located near the top of the unit
(when viewed from the rear, see figure 6,
