Operation
Pre-Starting Inspection
Inspect the hydraulic system for leaks. Check the hydraulic
oil level. Inspect the machine and perform each of the "Daily
Inspections" listed in the The Maintenance Manual as needed
before operating this machine.
NOTICE
To ensure the long life and economical operation of
your stump cutter, we highly recommend that the
operator be well instructed in both the operation
and maintenance of this machine.
Pre-Operation Warm-Up
1. Allow the engine to warm up at low idle for two minutes.
2. To warm up the hy drau lic oil, move the engine throttle
to me di um engine speed. Run the engine for about two
minutes while intermit tent ly holding the cutting wheel
raise lever in the RAISE position.
3. Move the engine throttle to the max i mum engine speed. Run
the engine for an addition al two minutes while in ter mit tent ly
hold ing the cutting wheel raise lever in the RAISE position.
This will allow the oil to reach relief pres sure, which
causes it to warm up more rapidly.
4. Cycle all the controls to allow warm oil to circulate
through all the cylinders and lines.
Starting the Engine
UNDERSTAND AND HEED TO THE INSTRUCTIONS
LISTED IN THE SAFETY SECTION OF THE MANUAL.
IN IT'S ENTIRETY, BEFORE OPERATING STUMP
CUTTER MACHINE.
NOTICE
DO NOT operate the starter for more than 10
seconds at a time. If the engine does not start, allow
a 60 second cool-down period before re-attempting
to start. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES
MAY CAUSE STARTER MOTOR FAILURE.
If the key switch is released before the engine starts, wait
until the starter and the engine stops turning before trying
again. This will prevent pos si ble dam age to the starter and/
or flywheel.
If the temperature is extremely cold, it may be necessary to
use cold weather start ing aids. Follow the man u fac tur er's
recommended procedure when using starting aids. Always
change the hydraulic oil filter at the prop er times. Do not
allow the engine to run with out the filter installed. Failure to

heed either direc tive will result in poor machine performance
and se vere damage.
Start-Up
B
After familiarizing yourself with the machine, and all objects are
clear of the working area you are ready to start the machine.
Follow the instructions below.
• Turn ignition key to start machine (A).
• Wait a few moments for the display to boot up, the display
will illuminate green (B).
• On the remote, Pull up on the red Emergency Stop On/
Off Switch ().
• Red and green lights will illuminate. Wait for RF/SS light
() to flash green.
• Once the RF/SS is flashing slowly, press the Start button ().
• Verify RF/SS light is flashing fast.
• You are now ready to use your machine.
• To turn machine off simply idle down the engine, turn
key (A) to the off position and press down the On/Off
Emergency Stop Switch on the remote.
Emergency Stop (C)
Should the need arise to stop the machine abruptly, the
operator can stop the machine two ways.
1. Push in on the machine Emergency Stop Switch () on
the machine Dash.
2. Push down on the Emergency On/Off Switch () on the
remote
Note: If the machine is shut down using one of the
emergency stop systems the remote may need to be re
linked to the machine by following the start up procedure.
To reset the Machine Emergency Stop Switch (C), turn
clockwise and release.
Engine Error Light (D)
This light will illuminate when there is an issue with the engine.
Contact your dealer or Rayco for repair.
Track Function Switch (E)
The track function switch allows the operator to change the
width of the tracks.
