Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) - Specifi es the electromagnetic compatibility emission
requirements for electrical and electronic equipment and components designed for industrial
environments. It covers the frequency range 0 Hz to 400 GHz. Th is standard concerns electrical
equipment that has to be connected to a power network, or uses battery power in an industrial
environment – whether it's indoors or outdoors. For a location to be classifi ed as industrial, it has to
have industrial, scientifi c and medical apparatus; heavy inductive or capacitive loads; and high currents
associated with electromagnetic fi elds
