Un-loop it’s tether from the retaining slot in the bottom cover to remove and/or replace it. Installation is reverse order of removal. The CN70A & CN70E use the same part. Do not use the original gray colored stylus.

On a CN70A push the webbing through the slot in the battery latch until the retaining pin is exposed. A small straight tipped screwdriver may be useful here since the pin fits tight in the battery latch. Remove the retaining pin and slide the webbing out of the slot in the battery latch.

It also provides the platform to which is attached the EA30 scan engine, camera, WAN/WiFi antenna, and side scan PCB’s. Servicing this assembly will generally require that it be removed from the CN70A.

Original production used a conductive trace and puck keyboard/keypad combination (shown at left in picture below). Current production uses a snap dome switch and plunger keyboard/keypad combination (shown at right in picture below).

None of these items can be individually replaced as they are bonded and heat staked at the factory in order to achieve the IP67 rating for the product.

Assembly in a clean environment using some form of finger protection is required. 1.

Apply light pressure to hold the magnesium frame snug against the display assembly and, using a #1 Phillips screwdriver, install 2 screws to secure the touch panel to the magnesium frame with 1.5+/-0.2 in-lbs of torque.

The main WAN antenna is located on top of the scan bracket assembly. The GPS/Diversity antenna is located in the top housing assembly. Coax cables, pogo pins, and circuitry on the main logic board route the antenna connections to the WAN/GPS radio card.
