On highways or high-speed major roads, the

cally when the vehicle is ready to pull away.

If you depress the accelerator pedal beyond
the setting of the Active Distance Assist
DISTRONIC, the system is switched to pas‐
sive mode. The ç

appears in the multifunction display.

Speedometer

The stored speed is highlighted on the speedom‐
eter. If the speed of the vehicle in front or the
speed adjustment is less than the stored speed
due to the route event ahead, the segments in
the speedometer light up. Deactivation of Active
Distance Assist DISTRONIC, as well as altera‐
tions to the speed due to manual or automatic
adoption of the speed limit, are displayed in the
control feedback of the multifunction display on
a single line.

During the transition from active to passive sta‐

Function of Hill Start Assist

Hill Start Assist holds the vehicle for a short
time when pulling away on a hill under the fol‐
lowing conditions:
The transmission is in position h or k.
R
The electric parking brake is released.
R
This gives you enough time to move your foot
from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal
and depress it before the vehicle begins to roll
away.
& WARNING Risk of accident and injury
due to the vehicle rolling away
After a short time, Hill Start Assist no longer
holds the vehicle and it can roll away.
Therefore, swiftly move your foot from
#
the brake pedal to the accelerator
pedal. Never attempt to leave the vehi‐
cle if it is being held by Hill Start Assist.
