Safety Message to Installers of Federal Signal Products
People's lives depend on your proper installation and servicing of Federal Signal products. It is important to
read and follow all instructions shipped with this product and the original product. Listed below are some
other important safety instructions and precautions you should follow:

To properly install a light assembly, you must have a good understanding of automotive electrical
procedures and systems, along with proficiency in the installation and use of safety warning equipment.
•
When drilling into a vehicle structure, be sure that both sides of the surface are clear of anything that
could be damaged.
•
You should frequently inspect the light system to ensure that it is operating properly and that it is
securely attached to the vehicle.
•
Refer to the instruction sheets packed with related products for additional precautions and information.
•
File these instructions in a safe place and refer to them when maintaining and/or reinstalling the product.
Failure to follow all safety precautions and instructions may result in property damage, serious injury,
or death.
Product Overview
This publication provides directions for installing the Federal Signal Arjent
A vehicle-specific mounting hook, purchased separately, is required to complete the installation.
Unpacking the Kit
After unpacking the product, inspect it for damage that may have occurred in transit. If it has been damaged,
do not attempt to install or operate it. File a claim immediately with the carrier, stating the extent of damage.
Carefully check all envelopes, shipping labels, and tags before removing or destroying them. Ensure that the
parts listed in Table 1 are included in the package. If you are missing any parts, contact Customer Support at
1-800-264-3578, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (CT).

Install a mounting bracket assembly on the lightbar using 3/8"-16 hex nuts, flat washers, and split lockwashers as shown in Figure 4 on page 4. Tighten the nuts only enough to hold the mounting bracket assembly in place. NOTE: When installing the mounting bracket assembly, use hole A and the hole (B or C) closest to the end of the extrusion (Figure 4). 8. Align and apply the supplied label along the edge of the aluminum extrusion on the side opposite the wire exit hole and approximately one inch from the lip of the extrusion as shown in Figure 4. 9. Remove the lightbar assembly from the vehicle roof and place it on soft rags or cardboard to avoid marring the plastic domes. Turn the lightbar assembly over so that the bottom of the lightbar faces up. 5. Secure the mounting assembly to the lightbar using the eight #10 hex head thread-forming screws. Tighten the 3/8"-16 hex nuts (two on each mounting bracket) installed in step 7 in “Preparing the Lightbar” on page 2. 6. Press a vinyl cap plug on each of the four carriage bolts (Figure 4 on page 4). 7. Place the lightbar assembly on the vehicle’s roof in the selected position. 8. To fasten the mounting hook and complete the installation, refer to the hook hardware kit instructions (Federal Signal Part No. 2562480) that is included in the kit. 9. For instructions for the electrical installation, see the Installation and Maintenance Instructions included with the Arjent lightbar. 10. After the electrical installation, test the lightbar for proper operation as well as the emergency warning system to ensure that it is operating properly. Do not test the sound and light system of the vehicle while driving. operating the vehicle warning systems may pose a hazard to the operator and other drivers if the systems do not function as expected. Test the vehicle only in a controlled environment. After testing is complete, provide a copy of these instructions to the instructional staff and all operating personnel.
