9" Monitor Cooling Fan Installation
Introduction
This document describes the installation of a cooling fan in the Cutler-Hammer 9" monitor.
Description
The Cutler-Hammer 9" color monitor is adequately ventilated and does not require forced
air cooling to meet the specified life expectancy. Actual MTBF failure rates are better than
the quoted rates. However, heat is the largest contributor to monitor failure. By providing
forced air cooling using a small DC fan, the life expectancy of the monitor may be
extended. This procedure describes the installation process.
Tools Required
• one phillips screwdriver
• one large pair of pliers
• one small pair of needle nose pliers
Remove the Monitor
1.
Disconnect the AC power from the unit.
2.
Unplug the monitor's video cable from the processor unit.
3.
Turn the two thumb nuts on the rear of the monitor 1/4 turn counter-clockwise (until it
clicks) to unlock the monitor.
4.
Pull the monitor out of the mounted frame and set it on a solid work surface.
