ASCII Pass-through Mode
When you select an ASCII host from the 3708 host selection scr:een, you are
operating in ASCII pass-through mode. When you receive the message
ASCI I HOST
CONNECTION ESTABLISHED,
you can begin communicating with the ASCII host. The
set of rules that you should follow when in this mode are determined by the ASCII
host application. Contact the system administrator if you have questions about the
ASCII host.
If a break sequence is defined for the ASCII host, you can use the sequence to
terminate the ASCII host session. The break sequence works as follows:
1. Log off the ASCII host.
2. Press the key on the terminal that causes a BREAK.
3. Type in the 3-character break sequence (see the system administrator).
The 3708 ends the session with the ASCII host, and the host selection menu is
displayed at the terminal.
oP2
Note: The break sequence does not terminate the ASCII host session. To terminate
the session with the ASCII host, you must log off the ASCII host, then enter the
break sequence.
OP2
Operational Note: When the termination sequence has been detected by the 3708, the ASCII host is made available
for other users. The physical line to the ASCII host is not disconnected.
