Read these instructions carefully
Whilst the composite Smart Band® is considered significantly
safer than alternative metallic solutions, failure to follow these
instructions can still result in personal injury.
General safety considerations:
 S martBand®isfreefromsharpmetallicedgeshoweveritis
importanttounderstandthatimproperoperationofthetoolor
sharpcornersontheloadcanresultinstrapbreakageduring
tensioningthatcouldresultinthefollowing:
–Asuddenlossofbalancecausingyoutofall
–Bothtoolandstrapflyingviolentlytowardsyourface
 F ailuretoplacethestrapproperlyaroundtheload,anunstableor
shiftedload,couldresultinasuddenlossofstraptensionduring
tensioning.Thiscouldresultinasuddenlossofbalancecausing
youtofall.
 P ositioningyourselfin-linewiththestrapduringtensioning,can
resultinpersonalinjuryfromflyingstraportool.Whentensioning,
positionyourselftoonesideofthestrapandkeepallbystanders
away.
 T histoolmustnotbeusedbypersonsnotproperlytrained
initsuse.Becertainthatyoureceivepropertrainingfrom
youremployer.IfyouhaveanyquestionscontactyourHCL
representative.
 F ailuretowearsafetyglasseswithsideshieldscanresultineye
injuryorblindness.Alwayswearsafetyglasseswithsideshields
whichconformtoANSIStandardZ87.1orEN166.

M aintainingimproperfootingand/orbalancewhenoperatingthe
toolcancauseyoutofall.Donotusethetoolwhenyouareinan
awkwardposition.

A lthoughtheSmartBand®isnotmetallicandtherefore
significantlylesslikelytocausecutstohandsorfingersitisstill
stronglyrecommendedthattheoperatorwearprotectivegloves.
Whenusingthepneumaticoption,earprotectionis
recommended.
 –  I nspectandcleanthetooldaily.Replaceallwornorbroken
parts
–Lubricateallmovingpartsapproximatelyevery50hoursofuse
 –  O nairpoweredtoolsalwaysdisconnectthepneumatic
connectiontothetoolwhenperformingpartremovaland
replacementprocedures.NEVERconnectapneumaticsourceto
adisassembledtoolunlessotherwisespecified
– Ifusedinseawater,washoffwithfreshwaterafteruse.
