Using the POP features

Using the POP double-window feature

The POP (picture-out-picture) double-window feature splits the screen into two
windows so you can watch two programs at the same time. The program displayed in
the POP window can come from a TV broadcast or an external device.
To display a program in the POP window:
1. Select the program you want to watch in the main window.
2. Press SPLIT to open the POP window.
Main window
3. Press SOURCE to open the POP INPUT SELECTION window. Select the input
source for the POP window by pressing the corresponding Number button (0–7).
The current source displays in purple.

4. If you select the ANT 1 or ANT 2 input source for the POP window, you can
change the POP TV channel in the following two ways:
• To change to a specific channel, press POP DIRECT CH. While the word
"POP" is on-screen, press the Channel Number buttons for the channel you
want to watch in the POP window.
• To change to the next programmed channel, press POP CH y or z.
If you try to watch a TV program that exceeds your set rating limits, the program
will be blocked (see "Using the Locks menu" on pages 84–87).
BLOCKED
To close the POP window:
Press SPLIT or EXIT.

• You cannot view digital programs in the POP
window.
• You can choose to output the sound of either
the main or POP program from the AUDIO
OUT jacks (see "Connecting two VCRs" on
page 17 and "Selecting the AUDIO OUT
sound" on page 79).
NOTICE OF POSSIBLE ADVERSE
EFFECTS ON TV PICTURE TUBE
Avoid displaying stationary images on
your TV screen for extended periods of
time. Fixed (non-moving) images (such
as still PIP/POP windows or black/gray
bars in wide-screen picture or PIP/POP
formats) can become permanently
engrained in the picture tube. This type
of damage is NOT COVERED BY
YOUR WARRANTY because it is the
result of misuse. See item 33 on page 4.
