The OS provides the fingerprint registration/authentication function.
If you use fingerprint authentication only to sign in to Windows, you do not need to install the Fingerprint Authentication Utility (DDS EVE FA Stan-
dalone for Panasonic). In that case, however, automatic sign in to websites using fingerprint authentication for verification is not available.
The fingerprint authentication function of the OS can be used as follows.
1. Click
(Notification) on the task tray, and click [All settings] - [Accounts] - [Sign-in options] - [Fingerprint].
When fingerprints are registered with both the OS fingerprint authentication function and the Fingerprint Authentication Utility, authen-
tication is performed by the Utility during Windows sign-in. (The OS's fingerprint information cannot be used.)
Fingerprint Authentication Utility Features
Pre-boot authentication (PBA)
Perform fingerprint authentication before the computer starts up. Set the Supervisor Password for the Setup Utility beforehand.
Sign in fingerprint authentication
Use fingerprint authentication to unlock your computer and sign in to Windows.
Fingerprint enrollment tool
Use to register, update, and delete fingerprints.
Fingerprint authentication ID manager
Use fingerprint authentication to automatically sign in to websites that require a user ID and password, such as are displayed in Internet Explorer.
If the Fingerprint Authentication Utility (DDS EVE FA Standalone for Panasonic) is installed, the Windows-standard fingerprint regis-
tration/authentication function and the function to set the personal identification number (PIN) cannot be used.
Fingerprint Authentication Initial Configuration
Preparations for Using Fingerprint Authentication
Use the following procedure for fingerprint authentication utility with this device.
Set up a Windows user account and password.
Sign in to Windows with administrator rights, and set up the Fingerprint Authentication Utility (DDS EVE FA Standalone for Panasonic).
Sign in with a user account that uses this device to register fingerprints.
Perform Pre-boot authentication (PBA) as necessary.
If the "User Account Control" screen appears, click [Yes].
