Connect the dock to a computer Warning! You should handle your drives carefully, especially when you’re transporting them. If you’re not careful with your drives, you may lose data as a result. Always handle storage devices with caution. Make sure that you’re properly grounded by wearing an anti-static strap.
Prepare a drive for use Windows OS If you install a drive that has data on it, after you connect the dock to your computer, the drive appears under My Computer or Computer with a drive letter assigned to it. If you install a brand-new drive that doesn’t contain any data, you must prepare the drive for use.

Troubleshooting My drive is locked and unusable If an error occurs during the secure erase process or it’s interrupted, one or both of your drives may become locked and unusable. To resolve this issue, try the following: 1. Connect either the USB-A to USB-B cable or the USB-C to USB-B cable to the USB 3.0 port on the dock and to the USB port on your computer.
