Table 9 lists symptoms of problems relating to non-functioning displays and
audible tones or alarms, and recommended actions. If the action requires
replacement of a PCB or module, refer to Disassembling the Monitor on page 85.

Symptom
Display values are
missing or erratic.
Display pixels do not
light.
Alarm sounds for no
apparent reason.
Alarm does not sound.
Primary speaker fails
and a slow, high-pitched
tone sounds.
Recommended Action

• If the sensor is connected, replace the
XI AX
pulse oximetry cable.
• If the condition continues, replace the
sensor.
• If the condition persists, replace the Main Board
printed circuit board. See Main Board PCB
Replacement on page 97.
• Check the connection between the Main Board
PCB and the Display PCB.
• If the condition continues, replace the Display
PCB. See Display PCB Replacement on page 95.
• If the condition persists, replace the Main Board
PCB. See Main Board PCB Replacement on
page 97.
• Moisture or spilled liquids can cause an alarm to
sound. Allow the monitor to dry thoroughly before
using.
• If the condition persists, replace the Main Board
PCB. See Main Board PCB Replacement on
page 97.
• Check the alarm silence status.
• Check the speaker connection.
• Replace the speaker as described in Alarm
Speaker Replacement on page 99.
• If the condition persists, replace the Main Board
PCB. See Main Board PCB Replacement on
page 97.
• Press the HELP/CONTRAST button and follow
the on-screen messages.
