05. Identify Function

Every BiDiB module has an identify function for localising and indication in the tree
view or on the module itself.
Some computer controlling programs use this function for automatic adding of new
nodes and registering their settings.

06. Background knowledge

06.1 What does node mean?
In the BiDiB world all bus participants (all modules connected to the BiDiBus) are
called nodes.
There are two different types of nodes:
One node in this structure is the master for each layer.
For layer 1 it is the interface and for the layers 2 to 4 it is a HUB.
This is called the master slave principle.

The function can be triggered on both sides
(module <-> computer tool).
If the button
(H)
the matching entry in the tree view (tool BiDiB-
Wizard) changes its colour from green to red.
With this approach the correct module can be
selected even if there is a greater number of
modules and the Unique-ID is not known.
But the other way round works as well. If the
module in question is selected with a right click
and the option "Identify" is chosen the BiDiB
(2)
identify LED
on the module will light up.
