ECOTRONIC Control System
MMC software update
The MMC software update is required if there is a change
in the software, e.g. adding a control feature.
To perform the update, go by the following steps:
■ Disconnect the power supply to the operating module.
■ Remove the housing cover from the bottom of the
Ecotronic module.
■ Connect the MMC dongle to the port for the MMC-
dongle.
■ Keep the
key pressed, connect the power supply to

the Ecotronic module.
■ After approx. 5 seconds the following text will be
displayed: .............................................................

■ Release the
key.
■ Briefly press the data transfer key to transfer the
software.
■ After the software update is done, the following
message will be displayed: ......................................
Finished, restart
■ Disconnect the power supply.
■ Keep the O key pressed, connect the power supply
to the Ecotronic module.
■ After approx. 5 seconds the following text will be
displayed:..............................................................
■ Release the O key, press the F1 key to load the basic
settings.
■ Disconnect the power supply, wait for approx. 5 seconds.
■ Connect the power supply.
■ Disconnect the MMC-dongle approximately 5 seconds
after the control has booted up. (Please return the MMC
dongle as quickly as possible to Viessmann).

Note: Once the update has been successfully loaded, the MMC-dongle will no longer be required by the Econtronic module.

Replacing the battery
There is a battery built in beneath the removable lid on
the control module (type: Panasonic Lithium BR2330).
It is for buffering the time, date and settings.
- The battery needs replacing every five years!
- Do not dissconnect the main power voltage while
changing the battery (do not trun off main switch)!
