Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions General functional description ACUUM GENERATION GRIPPING The ejector is designed for the handling of parts with the aid of vacuum. With the compressed-air supply connected, an external control signal (Suction on) starts (NC ejector) or stops (NO ejector) vacuum generation by actuating an integrated valve.
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions UTTING INTO SERVICE Installation and operation Amongst other things, the following must be observed and complied with in or- der to ensure correct installation and trouble-free operation of the ejector sys- tem: Carefully remove the components from their packing materials.
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions Mounting Read the safety notes carefully before mounting the ejector system! Caution Caution NSTALLATION The system may be installed in any desired orientation. Use only suitably treated compressed air (with or without oil - see the tech- nical data).
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions Pneumatic connections Use large-diameter vacuum hoses up to a point as close as possible to the suction pads! Use only hoses and pipes with the recommended internal cross-sections (see the table below). If this is not possible, use a hose or pipe with the next larger internal cross-section.

Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions Air saving mode ON The ejector evacuates the system until switching point H1 is reached. If the vacuum drops below switching point H1-h1, the ejector starts to evacuate the system again. SUCTION OFF The following example is for an NO ejector which uses the command.
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions Air saving mode ONS In this air saving mode, the vacuum drop with a certain time period is monitored (mbar/s). A distinction is made between two different conditions. The ejector evacuates the vacuum circuit until switching point H1 is reached.

Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions Monitoring the valve switching frequency Regardless of the selected operating mode, the switching frequency of the suc- tion valve is monitored. If internal controls activate the suction valve more than six times in three seconds, the ejector commences permanent suction mode. In this case, the diagnostic indicator blinks with a green light and the diagnostic output is activated.
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions Diagnostic output The following events activate the diagnostic output OUT3: [t-1] The evacuation time is exceeded [-L-] The system leakage is greater than Suction valve has acted more than six times within three seconds...
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions Diagnosis and Analysis Function (DAF) During each suction cycle, the X-Pump checks the vacuum system for leaks by measuring the vacuum drop per time unit. This function provides a unique facili- ty for detecting leaks anywhere in the entire vacuum system.. The measured leakage rate is allocated to one of four leakage ranges (see the table below)..
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions OFF FUNCTIONS Three different blow-off functions can be selected. back to back to blinking blinking > 3 seconds > 3 seconds back to back to blinking blinking back to back to blinking blinking <MENU> Press and hold the key for at least three seconds.
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions Internally controllefd blow-off – time-dependent [l-t] The blow-off pulse is controlled internally and is started automatically when the SUCTION OFF SUCTION signal (NO ejector) is activated or when the signal (NC ejector) is deactivated. In each case, the pulse lasts for the time speci- fied for [tbl].

DeviceNet and complies with the DeviceNet Specification Version 2.0 published by ODVA (www.odva.org). Addressing (MAC ID) [Id] The Schmalz X-Pump can be operated only as a DeviceNet slave. The address is set with the aid of the keypad. Each device (node) in a DeviceNet network must have its own unique MAC ID.
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions Any changes to the MAC ID become effective only after a system restart. After changing the MAC ID, you must therefore disconnect the supply voltage to the X-Pump for at least one second. When the X-Pump leaves the factory, the MAC ID is preset to 63. You can change this setting to any desired value in the range 0 ...
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions When the X-Pump leaves the factory, the baud rate is preset to 125 kBit/s. The X-Pump supports the baud rates 125kBit/s, 250kBit/s and 500kBit/s. Termination A termination resistor must be connected at each end of each DeviceNet net- work.
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions Diagnosis Two bicolour LEDs (red/green) are located between the electrical connectors for display of the system status. If the system is operating normally, both of these LEDs are green. The LED indicates the status of the module.
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions The LED indicates the status of the DeviceNet network. When the supply voltage is first connected, this LED blinks red and green alter- nately for a short time and then switches to one of the following states:...

Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions UNCTIONAL ESCRIPTION OF THE JECTOR WITH ULSE ALVE Voltage failure Ejectors equipped with a pulse valve retain their current operating state even in the case of a power failure . This means that the ejector continues to generate a vacuum if the power fails during a suction cycle.
Schmalz X-Pump Operating Instructions Control signals Ejectors equipped with pulse valves are also controlled with the two external signals "Suction" and "Blow-off". In contrast to NO and NC ejectors, however, the system looks only for a pulse on the signal line. In other words, the ejector begins to generate a vacuum when a pulse with a duration of at least 50 ms is detected.
