TheLSU5.2hasanextendedmeasuringrange.Itisthuspossibletomeasurepreciselyfromoxygen
sensor0.65andhigher.Thenewoxygensensorisoperationalearlier,meaningexactmeasuredvalues
areavailableafteronly7s.
Themeasuringdynamicsofthesensorishigher,wherebyitispossibletodeterminetheair/fuelratio
ineachcylinderseparatelyandthusalsocontrolit.Asaresult,ahomogeneousexhaustflowcanbe
adjusted,theemissionlevelsloweredandthelong-termemissionbehavioroptimized.

Theoxygensensorafterthecatalyticconverterisalsocalledamonitoringsensor.Themonitoring
sensorLSFXFOURfromBoschisusedwhichisthesuccessorsensortotheLSF4.2.
TheLSFXfourneedstheDME8.6.Sforsignalanalysisandisdistinguishedbythefollowing
characteristics:

astrongercontrolledheaterhasbeenintegratedintheLSFXfour.

Dependingontheconditioningoftheemissioncontrolsystems,itmaytakearound30seconds
forthefullpoweroftheenginetobeavailableafteritisstarted.Inthatperiod,theDMEcontrolunit
activatesasubstituteprogramthatisrequiredinordertoquicklybringtheemissioncontrolsystems
uptooperatingtemperature.Inthatsituationthefullpoweroftheengineisnotavailableasnormal.If
necessary,thedriverisnotifiedofthesituationbyaCCM(checkcontrolmessage).

TherearsilencerhasthetypicalMchrome-platedexhausttailpipetrims.
TheelectricalexhaustflapsareactivateddirectlybytheDMEbyapulse-widthmodulatedsignal.
