Theblow-bygasespassthroughtheopeningintheareaofno.6-cylinderintothesettlingchamber
inthecylinderheadcover.Fromthesettlingchamber,theblow-bygasespassthroughtheparticle
separatorwithballvalvewheretheyareseparatedfromtheoilbyanartificial-feltelement.Theblow-
bygasesseparatedfromtheoilnextpasseitherthroughthecrankcaseventvalveviathecylinderhead
intotheintakeareaupstreamoftheintakevalvesortotheintakeareaupstreamoftheturbocharger,
dependingontheengineoperatingmode.Theseparatedoilisdirectedviaareturnductdischarging
intothesumpbelowtheoillevel.Anon-returnvalveinthelowerpartofthecrankcaseintheareaofthe
sumpensuresthatnooilfromthesumpcanpassintothecrankcaseventilationsystemfromthesump.

Operatingprinciple
Thestandardfunctioncanonlybeutilizedwhilethereisavacuumintheintakeplenum,i.e.innaturally
aspiratedmode.
Innaturallyaspiratedmode,thecrankcaseventvalveandtheballvalveintheparticleseparatorinthe
cylinderheadcoverareopenedbythevacuumintheintakeplenum.Theblow-bygasesareroutedvia
thedistributorrailintegratedinthecylinderheadcoverdirectlyintothecylinderheadintakeports.
