Commissioning a New Network
Once the master and slave modules are installed, wired and powered, you now may follow
these steps:
1. Press the service button on each slave module. This operation will have the slave module
send the master the list of nodes connected to it for the master to build a communication
path (during this phase all three LEDs flash every second).
2. After one to two minutes, each slave module provides a status using the "RADIO" or
"RS485" LED during the testing phase.
• If there is a good communication path, the "RADIO" will have a green LED.
• If there is a communication problem, the "RS485" will have a yellow LED. Try adjusting
the module and repeat the process by pressing the service button.
3. When the network is ready to operate, start the acquisition procedure on the E2. The
slaves and master modules will start to communicate when the E2 requires information
to the MODBUS modules and starts coming online.
Removing a Node from the Wireless Network
The master module can recognize if a node is removed from the network. If a node is
removed, the master module will act as follows:
1. The master module enters to "discovery phase" to find a new path to reach the offline
nodes. While in this phase, lasting up to three seconds, the master disregards the mes-
sages coming from the E2.
2. After the three discovery phases (up to three seconds per phase), the master stops for 20
minutes in the discovery phase, and forwards the messages through the last known path.
Every 20 minutes a new discovery phase starts.
3. If the node is actually removed from the network, it must be deleted from the E2, to
avoid the master module to keep on starting the discovery phase.
4. To remove a slave module, unplug the E2 MODBUS from the master module and initiate a
discovery phase by pressing the service button, to create a new path.
Adding a Node to the Wireless Network
To add a node to the wireless network, refer to Commissioning a New Network.
