Layout Features Layout Features General layout features Various elements in the operating manual are marked with specific layout features. This allows you to easily distinguish whether it is normal text, ● lists or work steps that you are reading. Tips contain additional information, such as for example special instructions for effective use of the tacker.
Safety Avoid risk of fatal injuries Never direct the tacker at people, animals or parts of their body. Only actuate the tacker when the tool nose is pressed against the workpiece. Do not allow children to play with packaging films - risk of suffocation. Ensure that the coilnails are not driven into power cables.
The 3X-CNW50, 5F-CNW65, 7F-CNW90 and 9F-CNW100EPAL tackers drive PREBENA coilnails individually into wood and packagings using compressed air. The 4X-CNZ45 tacker drives PREBENA roofing felt nails individually into roofing felt and bitumen shingles using compressed air. The 9F-CNW100EPAL tacker is used for manufacturing and repairing Europallets.

Preparing the tacker Preparing the tacker Unpacking the tacker Remove the tacker from the packaging. Remove all packaging materials, such as plastic films, filler material and the cardboard box.´ WARNING Do not allow children to play with plastic packaging films. Risk of suffocation! Do not allow children to play with plastic packaging films.
If no oiler is installed, the length of the air line to the tacker must not exceed max. 10 metres. Otherwise pour three to five drops of PREBENA special nailer oil directly into the air inlet port of the tacker every day before starting work.
Page 16
Preparing the tacker CAUTION Operation on compressed air systems not satisfying the preconditions described above can result in damage to the tacker. Operate the tacker only on suitable compressed air systems. Operate the tacker only when it is in a safe working condition.
Push the quick coupler (1) of the compressed air hose onto the connection (2) until it engages audibly. Check the working pressure at the pressure gauge of the compressor. The maximum admissible working pressure for the tackers 3X-CNW50, 4X- CNZ45, 5F-CNW65, 7F-CNW90 und 9F-CNW100EPAL is 8.3 bar. WARNING Risk of explosion if the maximum working pressure is exceeded.

Preparing the tacker Type 9F-CNW100EPAL To open the magazine, press the magazine catch (1) upwards in the direction of the arrow. Slide out the magazine lock (2) to the left. Slide out the magazine (3) to the right. Type 4X-CNZ45 The 4X-CNZ45 tacker is equipped with a quick loading system.
Preparing the tacker Set nail length Type 3X-CNW50, 5F-CNW65, 7F-CNW90 and 9F-CNW100EPAL Inside the magazine are two scales with centimetre and inch graduations. These scales indicate the selectable nail length in each case for the tacker. To use longer nails, pull the magazine shaft (1) out to the desired position.

Preparing the tacker Type 4X-CNZ45 Inside the magazine are two scales with centimetre and inch graduations. These scales indicate the selectable nail lengths in each case for the tacker. To use longer nails, grip the magazine shaft (1) at the handle (2). Pull the magazine shaft out to the desired position.
Preparing the tacker Inserting nails In insert the nails into the magazine, place the coil onto the magazine shaft. The tips of the nails must thereby touch the magazine disc. Roll out the end of the coil until you can place the first nail into the guide (1).
Preparing the tacker Close magazine To close the magazine, push the magazine (1) inwards. Snap in the magazine lock (2). Press firmly against the magazine lock (3) until the magazine lock engages. The magazine is closed. Adjusting the vent To adjust the vent, turn the adjusting wheel (1) in the desired direction. Turn the vent so that the exhaust air is not directed at either yourself or other persons.
Preparing the tacker Use of the stop on Type 4X-CNZ45 The 4X-CNZ45 tacker is equipped with an adjustable stop. The stop is located on the underside of the magazine. A centimetre (3) and inch (2) scale is provided for adjustment. To adjust the stop (1), press the stop lock (4) in the direction of the arrow.
The hanger loop (Article No. ET 99300122) can be obtained from PREBENA. To attach the loop (1) to the housing head, remove the rubber plug (2) from the thread.
Select firing setting Type 3X-CNW50, 4X-CNZ45, 5F-CNW65 and 7F-CNW90) The 3X-CNW50, 4X-CNZ45, 5F-CNW65 and 7F-CNW90 tackers can be set for single firing or for repeat firing. With the repeat firing setting, the trigger does not have to be pressed every time. Every firing of the tacker drives a nail into the material.
The firing setting is selected. Set nailing depth Type 3X-CNW50, 4X-CNZ45 and 5F-CNW65 On the 3X-CNW50, 4X-CNZ45 and 5F-CNW65 tackers you can set the nailing depth of the coilnail by adjusting the adjusting wheel and by changing the working pressure of the compressor.
Using the tacker Adjusting Type 7F-CNW90 The nailing depth of Type 7F-CNW90 is determined by the position of the lower safety bracket. The higher you fit the lower safety bracket, the greater the nailing depth. To adjust the nailing depth, loosen socket-head screw (1). Move the lower safety bracket (2) vertically along the safety bracket (3) into the desired position.
Using the tacker Checking nailing depth Press the tool nose against a wooden test block with the same characteristics as the material to be nailed. Check the setting with a single firing against the test material. Repeat these steps until the desired nailing depth is obtained. Driving in nails WARNING Risk of injury due to electric shock.
Page 29
Using the tacker A severe recoil occurs if nails are driven into excessively hard workpieces or into other nails. This can cause the tacker to slip off the workpiece. The nailing depth of the nails depends on the hardness and thickness of the wood and on the set working pressure.
Using the tacker To fire the tacker repeatedly, proceed as follows: Check the setting by firing once. Lift the tacker off the wood. Adjust the desired nailing depth (see page 26), if necessary. Set the selector switch to "TTT" (repeat firing) (see page 25). Press the trigger lever.
Using the tacker Empty magazine Open the magazine as described from page 17. Remove the coil. Ensure that no wire residues remain in the magazine. Remove any wire residues, if necessary. Close the magazine as described from page 22. Transporting and storing the tacker Packing Pack the tacker before storage or before transporting over the following distances:...
Using the tacker Transporting The method of transport differs, depending on whether you have to transport the tacker over long or short distances. Transport over short distances Short distances are distances of not more than 10 metres. WARNING Inadvertent firing can result in serious or even fatal injuries.
Using the tacker Storage Oil all metal parts of the tacker thinly with PREBENA special nailer oil. Pack the tacker in the transport case. Store the tacker at room temperature in a dry place protected from dust. Servicing the tacker The tacker may only be serviced by persons with the necessary know-how, abilities and experience.
If no oiler is installed and the length of the compressed air line to the tacker is more than 10 metres, adequate lubrication is not assured. In this case pour two to five drops of PREBENA special nailer oil directly into the port for the compressed air source every day before starting work.
If malfunctions occur in the tacker that cannot be remedied by cleaning and oiling, please contact PREBENA Service. Do not carry out repairs to the tacker yourself. Ensure that all malfunctions in the tacker are remedied by PREBENA Service. Troubleshooting chart The following chart shows possible malfunctions and the necessary measures.
