GUS Disinfection Soak Station™ Principle of Operation The GUS System allows TOE Probes to be immersed in a high‐level disinfectant solution. The Ultrasound Probe is suspended in the soaking container, preventing damage to the sensitive tip. The system is designed to remove fumes from: Glutaraldehyde, Ortho‐phthaldehyde (OPA), Hydrogen Peroxide, Peracetic Acid. For the use of alternative high‐level disinfectants, please contact your local representative. One of the containers is used for clean rinse water. This ensures that when the TOE Probe is removed from the unit for the final rinse, no high‐level disinfectant will drip or off‐gas. The unit’s blower and carbon‐filtration system removes fumes from high‐level disinfectant solutions. Blowers draw the fumes through the carbon filter where they are effectively neutralized and clean air is G14T‐ returned to the room. No ductwork or external venting is required. The G14TC‐3‐EU and 3‐EU series have one blower. Padded Storage Compartment Grip Clip Grip Clip Side (return) Vent Side (return) Vent Rinse Support Tube Bracket Curved Soak Soak Tube...

If leak is found, do not use system. Contact your local distributor. Failure to do so will affect the warranty on the tube. TOE probes will displace liquid from the tube. As part of the set‐up, establish the liquid level in the tubes with a marker, tape or ink and place on the tube. NEVER place the probe into a dry tube. Make sure that the tip of your TOE probe is straight before inserting. Use a fluid motion when inserting the probe to prevent it from sticking in the tube. 50055_G 8 G14TC‐3‐EU / G14T‐3‐EU ...
GUS Disinfection Soak Station™ For G14T‐3‐EU –ONLY 1. Pour water into the tube leaving 7.6cm from the top of the tube. Do not use disinfectant during the set‐up process. 2. Slowly insert your TOE probe into the tube, watch the water level. DO NOT allow the strain relief of the TOE probe to be submerged. 3. With the probe fully inserted, the water level should be mid‐way between the 100cm mark of the probe and the start of the strain relief. Add or subtract water as needed to achieve this level. 4. Remove the TOE Probe and mark the level of the water using a tape or permanent marker. This mark is the maximum fill level for the tube without the probe. During normal operation, you will lose some disinfectant to evaporation, you will need to ‘top up’ the disinfectant to this level. 5. The probe should be fully inserted so that the handle rests on the top of the tube. Place the electrical connector into the top padded compartment. 6. Repeat this process for additional probes from different manufacturers. For G14TC‐3‐EU –ONLY 1. Pour water into one tube; fill just above the grey plastic fitting. 2. Insert your TOE probe into the tube. NOTE: NEVER place the probe into a dry tube. Make sure that the tip of your TOE probe is straight before inserting. Use a fluid motion when inserting the probe to prevent it from sticking in the tube. 3. Insert probe so that the handle rests on the top of the tube. Place the electrical connector into the top padded compartment. With the probe fully inserted, the water level should be mid‐way between the 100cm mark and the end of the strain relief. GUS Disinfection Soak Station™ 4. Remove the probe drawing it through a dry paper towel to prevent drips. The water level with the probe removed is the MAXIMUM FILL LEVEL for the tube. Using an indelible pen, mark this water level on all tubes. It is important not to fill above this mark. Mark the other tube/tubes at the same level 6. Discard water from the tube. Filling the Soak and Rinse Tubes ‐ For ALL Units CAUTION Make sure to turn the system ON before pouring high‐level disinfectant into the soaking tube. Leave the system running whenever it contains high‐level disinfectant. Keep the high‐level disinfectant soaking tube covered as often as possible, to minimize evaporation of the disinfectant. Please note that the cover is not intended to be a tight‐fitting cover. Change the initial rinse water at least once per day or according to your normal infection control practices. 1. Turn on the power switch. Confirm that the light in the power switch on the outside is illuminated. 2. Activate (if required) and slowly pour the high‐level disinfectant into the soaking tube. This should be done with the tube in the rack so that any fumes are carried to the filter. Fill the tube until it reaches the MAXIMUM FILL LEVEL established. See Figure 10. 3. When testing the efficacy of your disinfectant, attach a test strip to the test strip clip provided with your station. Slowly lower the test strip into the disinfectant. Follow test strip manufacturer’s Instructions for Use. 50055_G 10 G14TC‐3‐EU / G14T‐3‐EU ...
Make sure that the tip of your probe is straight before inserting into the tube. 1. Confirm that the system is switched on and that the fan is running. 2. Remove the rubber stopper from the soak tube and, using a fluid motion, insert the probe into the soak tube. CAUTION Ensure that the end of the probe is in a straight position. DO NOT force the probe into the tube. Placing the TOE Probe in the GUS System ‐ For G14TC‐3‐EU –ONLY. If you have difficulty getting your TOE probe inserted correctly into the tube, please call your CIVCO Medical Solutions distributor immediately for replacement tubes. 50055_G 11 G14TC‐3‐EU / G14T‐3‐EU ...
GUS Disinfection Soak Station™ Placing the TOE Probe in the GUS System - For ALL Units 1. The handle of the probe should now rest on top of the soak tube. Place the electrical connector into the top compartment. You may wish to use the cushioned spring clip to keep the electrical cord out of the way. 2. Soak the TOE probe for the time recommended by the disinfectant manufacturer. Removing and Rinsing the Probes ‐ For ALL Units CAUTION Typically a sterile rinse is not required for TOE probes; however, refer to your probe manual for specific instructions. Gripping the probe firmly, draw it through the towel or cloth until you reach the flexible end part of the probe. Transfer the tip of the probe over to the initial rinse tube and insert the probe up to the handle. Use a continuous motion when inserting the initial probe into the rinse tube. Peel off the glove, trapping the cloth inside, and discard. The initial rinse is done in the middle rinse tube inside the GUS unit. This is an important step to prevent drips and off‐gassing when moving the probe to the sink. Remove the probe from the initial rinse tube by drawing it through a damp paper towel or sterile cloth. Follow your probe’s instruction manual for final rinsing and storage procedures. 50055_G 12 G14TC‐3‐EU / G14T‐3‐EU ...
