Connecting a control panel

With door mounting kit (option +J410)), connect the control panel to the control unit as
follows:
1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 connector of the control panel.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the X13 connector of the control unit.
Controlling several drives from one control panel through
panel bus
One control panel (or PC) can be used to control several drives by constructing a panel
bus. An FDPI-02 module is required. For further information, see FDPI-02 diagnostics and

1. Connect the panel to one drive using an Ethernet (eg. CAT5E) cable.
Use Menu – Settings – Edit texts – Drive to give a descriptive name to the drive.
Use parameter 49.01 to assign the drive with a unique node ID number.
Set other parameters in group 49 if necessary.
Use parameter 49.06 to validate any changes.
Repeat the above for each drive.
2. With the panel connected to one drive, link the drives together using Ethernet cables.
(Each panel platform has two connectors.)
3. In the last drive, switch bus termination on by moving the terminating switch into the
outer position.Termination should be off on all other drives.
4. On the control panel, switch on the panel bus functionality (Options – Select drive –
Panel bus). The drive to be controlled can now be selected from the list under
Options – Select drive.
If a PC is connected to the control panel, the drives on the panel bus are automatically
displayed in the Drive composer tool.
