IBM i LUN serial suffix number
Use this control switch setting only when you attach more than one DS8000
storage system to an AS/400 or IBM i host and the last three digits of the
worldwide node name (WWNN) are the same on any of the storage systems.

Forward Error Correction (FEC) intercepts and corrects certain errors to
improve the adoption of 16 Gbps FCP and FICON host adapters.
Control-unit initiated reconfiguration (CUIR) allows automation of channel
path quiesce and resume actions during certain service actions. This setting
eliminates the requirement for manual actions from the host.
This control switch provides the threshold level, presenting a SIM to the
operator console for controller related errors. SIMs are always sent to the
attached IBM Z hosts for logging to the Error Recording Data Set (ERDS).
SIMs can be selectively reported to the IBM Z host operator console, as
determined by SIM type and SIM severity.
This control switch provides the threshold level, presenting a SIM to the
operator console for device related errors. Device threshold levels are the
same type and severity as control unit threshold settings.
8 Gb Fibre Channel lights-on fast load provides seamless microcode update
to storage arrays, and eliminates potential loss of access.
"Fast load" is a general term for quickly loading a new code version to a
host adapter card on the DS8000. "Lights-on fast load" is an enhanced
feature of the fast load process. Before the introduction of this enhanced
feature, the laser light that sends the Fibre Channel signals would be
turned off briefly during a fast load. This interruption to the signals caused
the host at the other end to go through time-consuming recovery actions.
The lights-on fast load feature keeps the laser light turned on throughout
the fast load process. There are still intervals when the signals are paused,
but lights-on fast load keeps the light path active so that there is less
disruption to the host when a new code version is loaded to the adapter
card.
16 Gb Fibre Channel lights-on fast load provides seamless microcode
update to storage arrays, and eliminates potential loss of access.
This control switch provides the threshold level, presenting a SIM to the
operator console for media related errors. Media threshold levels are the
same type and severity as control unit threshold settings.
Service Information Messages (SIMs) are offloaded to the first I/O request
directed to each logical subsystem in the storage facility if the request is
device or control unit related, or offloaded to the individual logical volume
