Maintenance
Caution! Do not repair or lubricate when the parts are in movement.
Remove the key and disconnect the battery cables prior to commencing any cleaning,
maintenance or repair operations.
Remove the spark plug cap.
Wear suitable clothing and work gloves.
Never disperse waste oil, fuel or any other incendiary or polluting product into the environment.
Do not smoke.
Do not work around naked flames.
Efficient maintenance and correct lubrication contribute towards keeping the machine in perfect
working order.
Engine
For the maintenance intervals follow the instructions given in the operating manual for your
specific engine.
As a guide, you should check the oil level every 4 hours of work and replace it yearly or every
100 hours of work.
Always use good quality oil as indicated on the engine user manual.
Oil-bath air filter
If you work in dusty conditions then the air filter may need cleaning more frequently. Wash the
filtering hank and add oil every 8 hours, use the same engine oil.
Dry air filter
For engines that have an air filter with the paper filter component, these should be cleaned
with air. However if the filter is very clogged, punctured or if the sealing surface has become
damaged then it should be replaced.
Do not use the engine if the filter is in poor condition or missing.
