mirrors are flat. It does not matter where the beam contacts the mirror. Trying to adjust the beam so that it hits
the center of each mirror just might make the alignment worse.
Below is a walkthrough from start to finish of a complete beam alignment. This entire walkthrough should be done
each time you do preventive maintenance on your system.
CHECKING THE ALIGNMENT
First we need to do an initial check to see if the system is alignment needs to be adjusted.
1. Remove the right side access panel.
2. From the touch screen touch Service and then touch Beam Alignment.
3. Set the power to 10 and the time to 1.
4. Place a piece of masking tape over the hole on the lens carriage as shown.

OVER THIS HOLE ON THE LENS
5. Remove the lens and mirror #3. It is important that you do this so that smoke from the tape does not
adhere to either optic.
6. Move the bridge to the back of the system
7. Move the lens carriage to the right as far as it will go
so that all of the optics are close together as shown.
8. Make sure the lid is closed and press
touch screen to fire the tube. If you raise the lid and
take a look, at the piece of masking tape, you should
have made a small burn mark. If you didn't, then
lower the lid and fire the tube again. Keep firing until
you make a small burn mark on the tape.
9. Once you mark the tape, move the bridge to the front of the machine. DO NOT move the lens carriage.
10. Press
on the touch screen to fire the tube.
Look at the two marks on the paper. If both marks are in the exact same spot, then the beam between mirror #1
and mirror #2 is parallel and you can move on to step 11. If your marks are NOT hitting the exact same spot, then
you need to adjust the beam so that it is parallel. In that case, please read the section
mirror#1 and mirror #2
before continuing on to step 11.
11. Remove the masking tape and replace it with a new piece.
12. Keeping the bridge to the front of the machine and the lens carriage to the far right hand side, fire the
tube again to make a small burn mark on the paper.
13. Move the lens carriage all the way to the left side of the bridge and fire the tube again, making a second
burn mark.
