1.2.1.3 Inner Mounting Chassis The chassis is mounted on the back box by means of five M4 x 6 mm screws which are accessible without removing the mother board. The chassis is served with a piano type hinge on the right hand side which allows the membrane to be opened through 90 degrees and the membrane is secured by means of three "Allen"...

1.4.2 Manual Devices MANUFACTURER PART NO. DESCRIPTION KR9/510 Call point complete with resistor KR72 Call point MCP/R/F Call point NOTES All break glass call points must have a 510 ohm resistor in series with the normally open alarm contacts. The quiescent current of a detection zone without an end-of-line resistor fitted is 2.6mA.
  • Page 15: Installation And Commissioning

CHAPTER 2 INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING GENERAL The installation of the fire detection and alarm system should comply with the current editions of:- The IEE Wiring Regulations. The British Standard for Fire Detection and Alarm Systems for Buildings. Care should be taken not to install cables in the proximity of high voltage cables or in areas likely to induce electrical interference.
  • Page 16: Installation

All static sensitive devices are marked accordingly, but it is good engineering practice to treat all components and boards with the same degree of protection. INSTALLATION Remove the inner chassis which incorporates the motherboard and the membrane by unscrewing the five securing screws, which should be replaced in their original nut inserts for safe keeping. Ensure that the chassis is stored in a safe environment in accordance with the precautions detailed in Section 2.1.

is present at the on-board mains terminal and insert the mains fuse, check that the panel performs the following functions: The supply healthy LED illuminates The system fault LED illuminates The internal buzzer pulses The fault relay operates No other fault indications should be present at this stage and if faults exist, clear before continuing.
  • Page 18: Zonal Checks

The panel must be reset after each fault condition. 2.3.2 Zonal Checks For each detection zone the following procedures must be followed:- 2.3.3 Fault Conditions Remove one leg of the external wiring (or end-of-line resistor) and check that the correct zonal fault LED (amber) flashes in sympathy with the system fault LED and the internal buzzer.
  • Page 19 the reset button check that the panel reverts to the operating condition, with the supply healthy LED illuminated. The audibility level of the sounders should be checked to ensure that they conform to BS 5839 Part 1, Section 2 clause 9.4. NOTE Upon completion of commissioning of the system it is advisable to perform a processor failure count check as described in the Engineers Controls section of this manual.

CHAPTER 3 PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION ALARM CONDITION The dual fire LED's and the zone of origin LED will operate in a pulsed mode. The internal buzzer will operate in a continuous mode. The sounder will operate in a pulsed or continuous mode as selected by the switch on the main pcb.
  • Page 22: Disablement

A sounder circuit fault will operate the system fault LED and the internal buzzer in a pulsed mode. The operation of the silence alarms button will alter the internal buzzer to the intermittent mode but the system fault LED will remain in a pulsed mode. A supply fault (mains, battery or fuse failure) will extinguish the supply healthy LED and illuminate the system fault LED in a pulsed mode.

  • Page 25: Maintenance

CHAPTER 4 MAINTENANCE GENERAL Maintenance of equipment extraneous to the control panel will be detailed in the appropriate manufacturer's literature. The back up batteries are of a maintenance free manufacture but attention should be made to the commissioning date as the batteries will require replacing every 4-5 years thereafter. The components of the control panel are of a sufficient quality to withstand the life expectancy of the panel which is 15 years.
  • Page 26 The 8, 16 and 32 zone control panels have three switches which are designated as follows:- PROCRST Operation of this button will re start the processor in the event of a total failure. FCRST Operation of this button will clear the processor failure counter to zero. To check how many times the processor has automatically been restarted place leaf 4 of SW 1 to the on position and the first eight zonal fault LED's will illuminate in a binary format to indicate the number of...
