Introduction

The Keysight N5252A is a PXI-based Millimter-wave Vector Network Analyzer System for
S-Parameter measurements.

Available Options

• Option 200 provides items for a 2-Port E-Band (60-90 GHz) system. See
• Option 400 provides items for a 4-Port E-Band (60-90 GHz) system. See

System Components

• M9374A PXIe Network Analyzer Modules (300 kHz-20 GHz).
• N5252AW12 - TxRx VNAX Millimeter-wave VDI VNA Extenders (60-90 GHz).
• M9005A PXIe Chassis: 5-slot, 3U, with an Integrated System Module and a PCIe
desktop adapter for use with a tower computer.
• N5262AC12 - WR12 (E-Band, 60-90 GHz) Calibration Kit from VDI. See
• Cable sets (1.2 m) and power supplies.
• USB drive with power level data of N5252AW12 extenders and VDI User's Guide.

Recommended Accessories

• N1913A/14A Power Meter or equivalent
• E8486A-200 (with Option 002) Waveguide Power Sensor, or
U8489A with E281CS Adapter
Not provided, but required, are a tower computer with an available PCIe
slot, monitor, mouse, and keyboard. Refer to the M9005A PXIe Chassis
User Guide for computer requirements.

Features

• The VNA provides power level adjustment at the output of the Frequency Extender.
• Enhanced power level accuracy with calibration using your power meter and power
sensor.
• Can be used as a 300 kHz to 20 GHz VNA or mm-wave system.

Limitations

• Not all applications are supported. See
• All ports must be configured for a mm-wave system or a M9374A VNA system. You
cannot configure the system for a mm-wave and 20 GHz VNA system at the same time.
• Trace noise for receiver and wave measurements will degrade for IF bandwidths less than
100 Hz.
• This is a sensitive measurement apparatus by design and may have some performance
loss (up to 35 dB above the noise floor) when exposed to ambient continuous
electromagnetic phenomenon in 3-5 MHz when tested per IEC 61000-4-6.
