11.10 Switching on the Remote Configuration
The INSYS 19" 336 LL Modem can be configured remotely. It has a remote configuration
mode. To configure the INSYS 19" 336 LL Modem remotely, a data connection to the mo-
dem to be configured must be established. This can be performed during a data connec-
tion. After switching into the remote configuration mode, AT commands can be sent to
configure the INSYS 19" 336 LL Modem.
To switch into the remote configuration mode, a data connection must be established
between the modems. If the INSYS 19" 336 LL Modem recognizes the character string
"****" in the data stream and if no data traffic takes place after that for 1 second, the
INSYS 19" 336 LL Modem will switch to the remote configuration. It will then send a re-
sponse and a prompt to enter the password of the remote configuration. A particular
connection type is not mandatory. We recommend using only error-corrected connec-
tions for the remote configuration to avoid AT command transfer errors.
The remote configuration is active as default.

Perform the remote configuration
In the following, we show how to configure the INSYS 19" 336 LL Modem
remotely.
You will need a PC which is connected to one of the two INSYS 19" 336 LL
Modem at the leased line, via the serial interface.
The INSYS 19" 336 LL Modem must already have a data connection to the
remote terminal established. The POWER LED, the DCD LED and the OH LED
light up.
You will need a terminal program.

Open your terminal program.

Open the serial interface, to which the INSYS 19" 336 LL Modem is con-
nected.

Enter **** (four asterisks). This will switch you into remote maintenance
