3.3 Software System
3.3.1 Software Architecture
R8860E GU858 software can be classified into drivers, supporting software, and
application software, as shown in

3.3.2 Software Functions
Application layer includes radio frequency subsystem (RFS) and operation and
maintenance (OAM) subsystem, mainly implementing software download, configuration,
management, system maintenance, and measurement.
Operation Support Sub-system (OSS) is the supporting layer of whole software framework,
which provides a hardware-unrelated platform to run system software and provides
basic software function, such as dispatching, timer, memory management, inter-module
communication, sequence control, monitoring, alarm, and log function.
Board Support Package (BSP) is responsible for routing relevant information and data to
application layer of GSM or UMTS.
VxWorks is the operating system of hardware platform.
