H H H H H Divide

Play the track which you wish to divide into two and press the
06 button at the point where you wish to divide the track.
I The unit will enter the pause mode.

Press the NAME/TOC EDIT button, and then select "DIVIDE"
using the MULTI CONTROL button.

Within 10 seconds, press the ENTER button.
I To cancel the operation, press the MD H button.

Press the ENTER button again.
I The tracks are divided, and the unit is stopped at the beginning of the
second of the two tracks.
I The numbers of the tracks which come after the divided track are
automatically increased by one.
I When a track which has been given a name is divided, the two new
tracks will have the same name and date. If the "TOC FULL" message
is displayed, the second track may not be given a name.
Notes:
I This unit can hold up to 255 tracks. However, even if the number of
tracks assigned has not reached 255, it might not be possible to make
any further divisions of tracks. (Page 53)
I This function cannot be used while in the program ( "PRGM" is lit) or
while in the random play modes ( "RANDOM" is lit). First, cancel the
program or random play mode before trying to use this function.
H H H H H Combine

While in the stop mode, select the second of the two tracks you
wish to combine using the MULTI CONTROL button.
Or start playing the second of the two tracks you wish to
combine, and then press the MD 06 button.
I The unit will enter the pause mode.

Press the NAME/TOC EDIT button, and then select "COM-
BINE" using the MULTI CONTROL button.

Within 10 seconds, press the ENTER button.
I To cancel the operation, press the MD H button.

Press the ENTER button again.
I The two tracks are combined, and the unit is stopped at the beginning
of the combined track.
I The numbers assigned to the tracks following the combined track are
automatically decreased by one.
When both tracks have a name:
I When only the first track has a name
I When only the second of the two tracks has a name

To combine two noncontiguous tracks:
(Example: the first and third tracks)
Move the third track to the second track using the MOVE function.

Then, combine the first and second tracks using the COMBINE
function.
Notes:
I Tracks recorded from the analog inputs cannot be combined with
tracks recorded from CDs or MDs using the digital inputs.
I Tracks recorded the in stereo mode cannot be combined with tracks
recorded in the monaural long-play mode.
I Tracks where either track's recording time is less than 15 seconds
may not be combined.
