Installing the Strike

Outward opening door -
mount flat strike
1) Place the strike (A) on the door jamb (B)
in line with the center line of lock
(see Figure 9-1).
2) Trace the outline of the strike on the jamb.
Remove the strike.
3) Chisel out the jamb so that the strike will
be flush with the surface of the jamb.
4) Place the strike back into the cutout
and trace the latch hole on the jamb.
5) Chisel this out to clear the
long extended latch. The latch must enter
the strike freely.
Inward opening door - mount box strike
1) Place the strike on the door trim in line
with the center line of lock.
2) Trace the outline of the strike onto the
trim (see Figure 9-2).

Add ⁄ " (4 mm) to the edge of the tracing

opposite the lock to allow for recessing
of the strike tongue.
3) Chisel out the traced (shaded area),
down to the door frame (see figure 9-2).
4) Place the strike back into this cutout
and trace the outline of the strike tongue
(see Figure 9-3).
5) Chisel out the frame so that the strike
tongue will be flush (approximately
6) Place the strike back into the cutout
and check that the large segment
of the latch enters the strike freely.
7) Secure the strike with two 1
screws and three 1" (25 mm)
screws provided.

Instalación de la contra
Puerta que se abre hacia afuera -
montaje con contra plana
1) Coloque la contra (A) en el batiente (B)
de la puerta, alineándola con la línea central
de la cerradura (ver ilustración 9-1).
2) Delinee la contra sobre el batiente.
Saque la contra.
3) Escoplee el batiente para que la contra
quede al nivel de la superficie del batiente.
4) Vuelva a colocar la contra en el lugar
escopleado y delinee el agujero del
pestillo sobre el batiente.
5) Escoplee lo suficiente para que entre el
pestillo extendido de 16 mm. (
El pestillo debe entrar libremente en la contra.
Puerta que se abre hacia adentro -
Montaje de la caja de la contra
1) Coloque la contra sobre el contramarco
de la puerta alineándola con la línea central
de la cerradura.
2) Delinee la contra sobre el contramarco
(ver ilustración 9- 2). Agregue 4 mm.

3) Escoplee lo trazado (área sombreada),
hasta llegar al marco de la puerta
(ver ilustración 9-2).
4) Coloque nuevamente la contra en el lugar
escopleado y delinee la lengüeta de la contra
(ver ilustración 9-3).
5) Escoplee el marco para que la lengüeta
de la contra esté a nivel

escopleada y controle que el segmento
grande del pestillo entre en la contra
sin impedimento.
7) Fije la contra con dos tornillos de 44 mm.
