Chapter 4. Configuring your server

The Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) Boot Manager program controls the startup
environment. After you turn on the server, this program offers you a choice of
startup options. For example, you can start to an operating system located on the
network or media, or to the EFI Boot Maintenance Manager main menu.
In addition to the EFI Boot Manager program, you can use the following
configuration programs to customize the server hardware:
v Configuration/Setup Utility
v LSI Logic Configuration Utility
v Remote Supervisor Adapter configuration process

Using the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) Boot Manager program

From the EFI Boot Maintenance Manager main menu, the EFI Boot Manager
program enables you to configure a variety of startup options. You can use it to:
v Set the startup options
v Define the startup option to use for the next restart
v Set the automatic restart feature
Complete the following steps to start the EFI Boot Manager program and access
the EFI Boot Maintenance Manager main menu:
1. Turn on the server and watch the monitor screen.
2. From the EFI Boot Manager startup options, select the EFI Boot Maintenance
3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Using the Configuration/Setup Utility program

Configuration/Setup is a menu-driven utility that is part of the SAL/EFI code that
comes with your server. You can use it to:
v Configure system devices and ports
v Set the date and time
v Set passwords and security settings
Complete the following steps to start the Configuration/Setup Utility program:
1. Turn on the server and watch the monitor screen.
2. From the EFI Boot Manager startup options, select the Configuration/Setup
3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
