0! 018m. between the contacts. then tighten the'
fixing screw.
Timing.
It is essential to set the contact breaker maximum
gap (see above) before any attempt is made to
"time" the magnctn.
A \Vnndmfi type key. fitted
in the seating: in the taper end. of the crankshaft,
lncalcfi the flywheel and cam for approximate timing
positinn.
Final exact timing is made by setting the stator
plate with the fixing screws central in the slots.
Turn the flywheel clockwise until the piston has
travr'llcd 5/32'1n. down from its tnp-dead—centre
position, and check if the contact breaker points
are just parting (use a. .GOZin. feelcr gauge).
If the
paints are more than .002in. open. loosen the stator
plate screws and turn it a fraction ant'i-clockWific.
rc-tightcn and re-eheck piston position and points
opening.
If the points have not opened at all.
move the starter plate in the opposite direction
(clockwise) and re-chcck.
The adjustment required will be very small.

TO TIGlITEN THOROUGHLY
THE STATOR PLATE SECURING SCRE'WS.
Lubrication.
Every 2,000 miles ayply a few droyis of thin oil
to the felt cam lubricator.
At maior overhauls, remove contact breaker
lever and very lightly smear the pivot with thin
oil.
High Tension Cable.
If this shmvs signs of cracking or perishing it
should be replaced by use of 5mm. or 7mm. cable
(RVL. covered recommended). To release éable
