Starting and stopping Historical Server on Windows NT

Click the Stop button on the Windows NT Control Panel Services window.
Issue the
hs_shutdown
If start-up was launched from the command line or by means of a batch
file, then Historical Server is associated with the login that started it. In
these cases, Historical Server shuts down if you close the window in which
it was started or if you log off of the system.
If the controlled shutdown of Historical Server takes longer than a
predetermined time interval (five seconds for closing the window or
twenty seconds for logoff), the system displays a pop-up dialog box at
regular intervals, asking you whether or not to terminate the process.
Unless you respond with Wait each time the dialog box is
Warning!
presented, Historical Server shuts down in an uncontrolled way, risking
data loss and file corruption.
To stop Historical Server using

Connect to Historical Server using
isql -Uhs_supersuer_name -Phs_superuser_password
-Shistorical_server
where:
superuser_name is the name that was used with the
the Historical Server start-up command. If
up command, any user can stop Historical Server, and this parameter
is optional.
superuser_password is the password that was used with the
parameter to the Historical Server start-up command. If
used in the start-up command, any user can stop Historical Server, and
this parameter is optional.
historical_server is the name of the Historical Server you want to
stop.

To determine current activity on Historical Server, issue the following
command when the
1> hs_status activity
