15.0 True Three Phase Meter Testing Using Customer Load

Equipment Needed:
• RM-111 Automated Comparator
• Three RM or RD Reference Standards
• Polyphase solid state or induction meter
• RM-1H or RR-1H Optical Pickup or RM-DS or RR-DS Disk Sensor
• Universal test jack or test switch connection
Test Steps:
1. Make the appropriate connections either with a universal socket adaptor or connections made
from the meter test switch at the installation so that each reference standard is powered from one
of the voltage and current sources in each phase. Refer to Figure 14. Auxilliary power for each
standard can be wired in parallel and sourced from any convenient 120/240 volt single phase
supply.
2. Apply test voltage, current, and auxiliary power.
• To implement a demand and/or creep test to any meter test, set the desired time duration
(minutes) in the Test Setup screen. Setting these parameters to zero will omit the test from
the sequence.
3. Turn on the RM-111 and select the TEST SETUPS menu option. From the TEST SETUPS
menu, select METER TEST. To create a new test setup, select Create. To edit an existing test
setup, select Edit. To delete a test, select Delete. The Test Setup screen contains all the necessary
parameters to run a meter test. The arrow keys are used to move the cursor throughout this
screen. Enter the appropriate value for each parameter:
Name - Enter a test setup name on the fi rst line by typing over the current text (16 characters
maximum).
