DESCRIPTION
Select t he AP's sensit ivit y level t oward ot her channels. Opt ions are H igh,
M e diu m , and Low .
Generally, as long as t he area in which your AP is locat ed has m inim al
int erference from ot her devices you can set t he D CS Se n sit ivit y Le ve l t o
Low . This m eans t hat t he AP has a very broad t olerance.
I f you are not sure about t he num ber and locat ion of any ot her devices in t he
region, set t he level t o M e diu m . The AP's t olerance for int erference is
relat ively narrow.
On t he ot her hand, if you know t here are num erous ot her devices in t he
region, you should set t he level t o H igh t o keep t he int erference t o a
m inim um . I n t his case, t he device's t olerance for int erference is quit e st rict .
Note: Generally speaking, the higher the sensitivity level, the more frequently
the AP switches channels. As a consequence, anyone connected to the
AP will experience more frequent disconnects and reconnects unless
you select Enable DCS Client Aware.
Select t his t o have t he AP wait unt il all connect ed client s have disconnect ed
before swit ching channels.
I f you disable t his t hen t he AP swit ches channels im m ediat ely regardless of
any client connect ions. I n t his inst ance, client s t hat are connect ed t o t he AP
when it swit ches channels are dropped.
Select how you want t o specify t he channels t he device swit ches bet ween for
2.4 GHz operat ion.
Select a u t o t o have t he device display a 2 .4 GH z Ch a n n e l D e ploym e nt field
you can use t o lim it channel swit ching t o 3 or 4 channels.
Select m a n u a l t o select t he individual channels t he device swit ches bet ween.
Select channels from t he Ava ila ble ch a nn e ls list and use t he right arrow
but t on t o m ove t hem t o t he Ch a n n e ls se le ct e d list .
This is available when t he 2 .4 - GH z Ch a n n e l Se le ct ion M e t h od is set t o
a ut o.
Select Th r e e - Ch a n n e l D e ploym e n t t o lim it channel swit ching t o channels
1,6, and 11, t he t hree channels t hat are sufficient ly at t enuat ed t o have alm ost
no im pact on one anot her. I n ot her words, t his allows you t o m inim ize channel
int erference by lim it ing channel- hopping t o t hese t hree " safe" channels.
Select Fou r - Ch a nn e l D e ploym e nt t o lim it channel swit ching t o four
channels. Depending on t he count ry dom ain, if t he only allowable channels are
1- 11 t hen t he device uses channels 1, 4, 7, 11 in t his configurat ion; ot herwise,
t he device uses channels 1, 5, 9, 13 in t his configurat ion. Four channel
deploym ent expands your pool of possible channels while keeping t he channel
int erference t o a m inim um .
Select t his if your APs are operat ing in an area known t o have RADAR devices.
This allows t he device t o downgrade it s frequency t o below 5 GHz in t he event
a RADAR signal is det ect ed, t hus prevent ing it from int erfering wit h t hat
signal.
Enabling t his forces t he AP t o select a non- DFS channel.
