Check for H <> X Cable Reversal
The DTR may have detected a potentially hazardous step-up condition

while attempting to test the transformer as connected. Verify connections:
H & H
RED BLACK
X should be attached to the low voltage winding.
BLACK
High Excitation Current
Check test cable connections for inadvertent short circuits. Check for
shorted transformer windings.
Check Cables & Connections
Verify that all test cable connections have been made correctly and are
firmly attached to the transformer terminals. Inspect transformer terminals
for dielectric coatings, fungus and corrosion.
Low Battery
Low battery indication. Recharge the batteries immediately.

The DTR always self-calibrates upon power-up. The DTR

automatically self-calibrate:
• at periodic intervals
• after 32 sequential test cycles have been performed
• following the detection of any error in which the DTR
