Obligations for Safe Operation

13.3.1.

General Obligations for Safe Operation

The radial piston pumps may be operated only in conjunction with dusts with ignition- and
glowing temperature higher than 210°C.
The radial piston pumps may be operated only in conjunction within gas atmospheres with
ignition temperature higher than 135°C.
DANGER
Danger of explosion!
The unsafe operation of the radial piston pump is dangerous.
For safe operation and to avoid dry running of the radial piston pumps or to avoid ingress of air in
the pump circuit appropriate monitoring devices are necessary.
This can be realized for instance by monitoring the fluid level in the fluid reservoir and by
monitoring the opened position of one single cut-off valve in the suction line of the pump.
DANGER
Danger of explosion due to dry running of the pump in hazardous locations!
In case of dry running ignitable mixtures inside of the pump can occur in radial piston
pumps.
For safe operation in hazardous locations:

Only operate the radial piston pumps in a safe and functional condition.
At least once per shift, check the pumps for damage visible from the outside and
defects such as leakage.
Report changes, including to the operating behavior, damage and defects to the
responsible department immediately. If necessary, stop the machine immediately
and secure it.
In case of a defect on the pump send it back for repair to MOOG or an
authorized MOOG service center.
Only operate the radial piston pumps in a safe and functional condition.
At least once per shift, check the pumps for damage visible from the outside and
defects such as leakage.
Report changes, including to the operating behavior, damage and defects to the
responsible department immediately. If necessary, stop the machine immediately
and secure it.
Monitoring the pump behavior during operation with appropriate monitoring
devices depending on the application and mounting position.
