    Contraindications for Percussion Therapy: • Multiple rib fractures • Persistent intracranial hypertension • Bronchospasm • Post-operative periods following cardiac surgery Risks and Precautions Side Rails / Patient Restraints - Whether and how to use side rails or restraints is a decision that should be based on each patient’s needs and should be made by the patient and the patient’s family, physician and caregivers, with facility protocols in mind.

    Shock Hazard - Electrical shock hazard; do not remove covers. Refer to qualified service personnel. Proning (using TriaDyne Proventa Proning Accessory Kit) - Proning may present inherent risks of serious injury. For instance, some studies and caregiver experience have suggested or reported risk of the following in relation to proning in general: • skin breakdown and / or pressure necrosis...
  • Page 12 Brakes - Lock all steer casters in line and set all caster brakes before transferring patient. Bed Height - To minimize the risks of falls or injury, the unit should always be in the lowest practical position when the patient is unattended. Make sure area under and around bed frame is clear of objects, persons and parts of body before adjusting height.
  • Page 13 Power Cord - Ensure power cord is kept free from all pinch points and moving parts and is not trapped under casters. Improper handling of power cord can cause damage to the cord, which may produce risk of fire or electric shock. Avoid Fire Hazards - To minimize the risk of fire, connect the unit’s power cord directly into a wall-mounted outlet.

    It is recommended that all chapters of this manual be reviewed prior to product use. Carefully read the Contraindications, Risks and Precautions and Safety Information sections in the Introduction chapter of this manual prior to placing a patient on the TriaDyne Proventa Critical Care Therapy System. Preparation for Patient Placement 1.

    • Press button for Exit to return to Home menu. Cushions will inflate to a preset air pressure based on the patient’s height and weight. Patient Transfer to TriaDyne Proventa Critical Care Therapy System 1. Press Instaflate™ button to fill cushions and create a firm surface for patient transfer.

    Pulsation Adjustment Adjust pulsation settings as described below: 1. Press Menu button on Home menu. 2. Press Pulsation button on Main menu.   • Page 20 The top line of the weight trend chart will display the date and initial weight. This line is for reference and will not change. When future weight readings are taken and entered into the weight trend chart, the most recent reading will appear on the bottom line of the display. This information will move up one line each time a new weight reading is saved into the weight trend chart, and will eventually move up and off the display.

    It is recommended that all chapters of this manual be reviewed prior to product use. Carefully read the Contraindications, Risks and Precautions and Safety Information sections in the Introduction chapter of this manual prior to performing nursing care for a patient on the TriaDyne Proventa Critical Care Therapy System.

    Alarms An audible alarm will sound when: • Patient has exited unit (if bed exit alarm is armed). Press Disarm button on bed exit control panel to silence bed exit alarm. • Instaflate or seat deflate features have been activated. Alarm will sound again when feature has been activated for 20 minutes.

    Incontinence / Drainage 1. Place the TriaDyne Proventa cover sheet over patient support surface. 2. ArjoHuntleigh’s Dri-Flo ™ breathable underpads are recommended for incontinent patients. Disposable diapers or incontinence pads may be used. Do not use plastic-backed underpads. Plastic may block moisture vapor transmission and air flow from overlay.

Patient Positioning The following functions have been built into the TriaDyne Proventa Critical Care Therapy System to accommodate numerous clinical positioning requirements. Most functions can be activated from either the foot of the unit frame or from the side rails.

    Trendelenburg / Reverse Trendelenburg Use Trendelenburg / Reverse Trendelenburg to adjust patient support surface from +9° angle Trendelenburg to -9° angle Reverse Trendelenburg. Prior to activating Trendelenburg or Reverse Trendelenburg, assess the security of all invasive lines and tubes to accommodate the desired angle of articulation and minimize the risk of binding, disconnecting or dislodging.

    The following are the ArjoHuntleigh-recommended daily cleaning and infection control procedures for the TriaDyne Proventa Critical Care Therapy System while it is in use. If the product is to be purchased or utilized for long term rentals, it is recommended that ArjoHuntleigh be contacted for recommended infection control procedures to be utilized by the facility.

    • Inspect packs, cushions and cover sheet for cuts or tears. Replace as needed. • Inspect straps and buckles for wear. Ensure all are in good condition. • Inspect all straps for fraying or parting. If any items listed above appear to require service or replacement, contact ArjoHuntleigh.

    Weekly Care and Cleaning of TriaDyne Proventa Critical Care Therapy System In addition to daily care and cleaning, the TriaDyne Proventa cover sheet should be replaced weekly or more often as needed. Excessively soiled mattress components and cover sheets should be replaced and laundered per institution protocol.

    Operating Instructions This chapter contains instructions for setting and adjusting functions of the TriaDyne Proventa Critical Care Therapy System. It is recommended that all chapters of this manual be reviewed before operating the unit. Carefully read the Contraindications, Risks and Precautions and Safety Information sections in the Introduction chapter, as well as the Patient Placement chapter, of this manual prior to operating the TriaDyne Proventa Critical Care Therapy System.

    Main Control Panel The main control panel is located at the foot of the unit frame, on top of the footboard. It is the primary point of interface for the caregiver. The main control panel is divided into subsections based on the functions accessed from the Home menu and their subsequent menus.

    Instaflate Feature Use the Instaflate feature to assist in patient transfer and bathing by increasing air pressures in all cushions, creating a firm surface. 1. With Home menu showing, press Instaflate button. • The display shown at right will appear and Instaflate Activated will flash. • Rotation, pulsation and percussion will be deactivated.

    Head Deflate Use head deflate to gently lower the patient’s head and tilt the chin upward, allowing for tube placement, etc. Air pressures in the cushions of the head section will be decreased and air pressures in the body, seat and leg sections will be increased.

    Bed exit alarm is temporarily deactivated by the scale function. It is also deactivated by CPR and transport. Activation of the bed exit alarm is recommended whenever the patient is unattended. Be sure to reactivate the bed exit alarm each time the patient returns to bed. Bed exit alarm is triggered by dramatic weight reduction and may not alarm if patient is only partially exited from bed.

    Zero Use Zero button to recalibrate the scale to 0.0 lb (0.00 kg) prior to patient placement, with linens and all equipment, etc. already on the weighed portion of the unit. The I.V. pole at the head of the unit frame and the foley bag holders are not on the weighed portion of the unit.
