4. Connect serial cable to the SERIAL DB9 port on the rear of the Dual-Link Aggregating Tap. Connect oppo-
site end to Management PC. This connection is made to SET IP, SUBNET and GATEWAY to match your
network. (The factory default IP address is 192.168.1.1) For your Link Aggregating Tap to work properly
with your network, the IP address must be set to match your network. The IP address is configured
through the HyperTerminal application on the Management PC.
4a. Open the HyperTerminal application on the Management PC and create a HyperTerminal connec-
tion with these properties: 9600 bits per second; 8 data bits; Parity none; 1 stop bit; Flow control
none.
4b. Once a connection is made, press <Enter> key, <Enter> key, then enter the user name (default:
Administrator) and password (default: admin) to access the Link Aggregating Tap.
4c. Then enter Superuser Mode, at the prompt>, enter SU, <Enter> key, and enter password (default:
password)
4d. To set the combined IP address, IP Subnet, and IP Default Gateway, enter SET IP i.i.i.i s.s.s.s
g.g.g.g, (where i.i.i.i corresponds to the IP address, s.s.s.s corresponds to the IP Subnet, and
g.g.g.g corresponds to IP Default Gateway for your network) and then press the <Enter> key.
4e. The IP address is now set. Type EXIT, press the <Enter> key and close the HyperTerminal
Application. If you would like to use the MANAGEMENT RJ45 port (front panel) with either the
HyperTerminal or TelNet application for further configuration, disconnect serial cable from the SERI-
AL DB9 port (rear panel) and continue to the next step. Otherwise, leave the serial cable connect-
ed and the Command Line Interface (CLI) on the Management PC will configure the Link
Aggregating Tap through this port with the HyperTerminal application.
5. Connect management cable to the MANAGEMENT RJ45 port (front panel). Connect the opposite end of
this cable to the Management PC. See Management and Serial Port - Command Line Interface section for
more information.
6. Using the Command Line Interface (CLI), set the MONITOR (ANY-TO-ANY) ports to configure the input or
output ports you require. This process is outlined in the Management Port and Command Line Interface -
Superuser Mode - SET PORT MONITOR section.
AXTAP2206 and AXTAP2210 installation is similar within the series, just connect network cables to TAP ports,
cables to MONITOR (ANY-TO-ANY) ports, and management cables to either the front MANAGEMENT port or
rear SERIAL DB9 port.
