7.4 Sample dilution

During chemical analyses samples often have to be diluted to fit within a certain measuring
range. To avoid manual calculations, you can enter the dilution into the PF-12
then re-calculate the result, taking the dilution into account.

Dilutions are entered as 1 part sample plus x parts distilled water as to create distinct read-
ings. You can enter dilutions between 1+1 and 1+999.
Press
before the next measurement to open the entry option for the dilution. The screen
for entering the dilution appears. Once you have entered the dilution, it is displayed togeth-
er with all other sample information at the bottom of the display. The result is immediately
re-calculated using the entered dilution.
Note: The entered dilution only impacts the current result. In the case of large dilutions, e.g.
1+999, it is possible that the result is displayed in a different dimension as to enable proper
display in the screen.

7.5 Special methods

Besides the MACHEREY-NAGEL NANOCOLOR
Plus
PF-12
is also equipped with preprogrammed special methods.
between 80 and 200 mg/L
0.1–10.0 mg/L
(200 → 10 mg/L): at least 1:20 (1+19)
1:25 to 1:50 to get within the middle of the measuring range
These can be chosen via the list entry "Special methods" with
the buttons
