14. Mount the Wall Controller

WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock, wiring should be performed by a qualified electrician!
Incorrect assembly can cause electric shock or damage the motor and the controller! Hazard of electrical
shock!
WARNING: The installation of a Big Ass Fan must be in accordance with the requirements specified in this
installation manual and with any additional requirements set forth by the National Electric Code (NEC),
ANSI/NFPA 70-2014, and all local codes. Code compliance is ultimately YOUR responsibility!
A. Select a Mounting Location
Adhere to the following guidelines when selecting the
wall controller location:
• Mount the controller so that the fan it controls is
visible from the controller location.
• Install the controller on a flat surface that is readily
accessible, free from vibration, and where there is
adequate distance from foreign objects or moving
equipment.
B. Mount the Wall Controller
The wall controller can be surface-mounted to a wall or mounted to an installer-supplied junction box.
Mounting to a Wall
1. Attach the back plate of the wall controller to the
wall using suitable installer-supplied mounting
screws. Use any of the available mounting holes on
the back plate.
2. Route the provided CAT5 cable through any of
the available knockouts on the wall controller
and connect it to the CAT5 connector inside the
controller. Note: Knockouts and the CAT5 cable are
not shown in the illustration below.
3. Snap the controller onto the back plate as shown.

Mounting to a Junction Box
1. Remove the wall controller's front cover assembly
by unscrewing the two screws on the front cover.
Set the screws aside in a safe location.
2. Route the provided CAT5 cable into the junction box
and connect it to the CAT5 connector on the front
cover assembly.
3. Mount the front cover assembly to the junction box
using the two 6-32 x 1/2" Oval Head Screws (a) as
shown.
