    grounDing instructions The Express 12 Gallon Multi Surface Cleaner must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electrical current to reduce the risk of electrical shock. This machine is equipped with a cord which has an equipment-grounding connector and grounding pin (see Figure 2).

    MacHinE sEtup The Express Multi Surface Cleaner is shipped almost fully assembled. Before you set it up for operation, carefully check the shipping carton for signs of damage. Report damages at once to the carrier. Before starting the machine, remove the solution tank and replace the shipping plug (P/N 000-106-001) with the vent plug (P/N 000-106-014), shipped with your...

    Add a recommended cleaning chemical. Follow mixing and handling instructions on chemical containers. Failure to properly handle chemicals can result in serious injury or death. If you are using powdered cleaning chemicals, mix them prior to adding the chemicals to the solution tank. Depress the lever behind the large right wheel (Figure 6) and lower the cleaning head.

    MacHinE opEration Do not operate the Express unless you have read this manual and fully understand its contents. Failure to properly setup and operate the Express can result in serious injury or death. Before starting the machine, replace the shipping plug (P/N 000-106-001) with the vent plug (P/N 000-106-014), shipped with your machine.

    seal to the carpet breaks which will adversely affect solution recovery. To increase or decrease the angle, adjust the knob under the machine (see Figure 9). Turning the knob clockwise increases the amount of tilt. The large tires in the front and swivel casters in the rear of the Express allow the machine to easily pivot and glide in and out of tight places.

    CLEanIng CarPEts WItH Wand/tooL Vacuum the carpet and remove other debris with standard vacuum. Inspect the power cord for damage. Attach the solution hose to the quick disconnect at the back of the machine. Disconnect vacuum hose from right side of recovery tank and attach the vacuum hose in its place (see Figure 11).

    buildup in the recovery tank. Use a recommended foam control solution to prevent vacuum motor damage. Excessive foam buildup will not activate the float shut-off screen.     Draining tanKs rECoVEry tanK Turn the machine off. Insert the supplied 45° elbow in the drain valve. Place a bucket below it and slowly pull up on the handle (see Figure 15). Rinse the tank with clean water and empty it at the end of the day.

    frEEZE protEction Freeze protection requires the optional accessory hose package and empty out nozzle. After draining the solution tank as described in step 1 of the previous section (Draining Solution Tank, page 19), attach the vacuum hose as if preparing to clean with a wand.

    MacHinE MaintEnancE To keep the Express in good working condition, simply follow the machine’s daily, weekly and monthly maintenance procedures. When servicing the machine, unplug the cord from the wall outlet.     Check the spray on the jets for even flow. A jet that sprays unevenly or dribbles needs to be cleaned (see Figure 20). Do NOT spray the high pressure solution in your face or eyes. Bodily injury can result if you do.

    WEEKLy maIntEnanCE (EVEry 20 Hours of oPEratIon) Inspect vacuum hoses for holes and loose cuffs. When using the machine, follow mixing and handling instructions on chemical containers. Inspect the cord and cord grip for damage. Replace the cord and/or cord grip immediately if damaged.

    Change the felt seal (see Figure 23). This is recommended after every 10 hours of fluffy, usable side use. (For step-by-step instructions on removing the cleaning head and seal, refer to the Repair Guide section of this compressed, non-usable side manual, starting on page 27.) Always keep a spare felt seal soaking in 30 weight oil.

    storing MacHinE Before storing the machine, rinse and drain the tanks of all water. Store the Express in a dry area in the upright position. Open the recovery tank lid to promote air circulation. If storing the Express in a cold climate, freeze protect the machine as directed on page 21 of this manual.
