The Preparing Your Room for the Polycom Open Telepresence Experience (OTX) 300 Installation document is intended for Polycom customers who have purchased an OTX 300 and are in the process of preparing their room for the OTX installation. This document defines the room characteristics (such as the room size, wall color, and power outlets), delivery requirements, and network requirements needed to successfully deploy the Polycom OTX 300 telepresence solution. -

Will the OTX 300 Fit in My Selected Room? The first step in preparing for an OTX 300 installation is to make sure that the OTX will properly fit into the room you selected. The following table can help you make that determination. -
Page 6: Physical Room Requirements
• If your ceiling is higher than 10 ft (3.04 m) and lower than 14 ft (4.26 m), you must order three optional 6-foot (1.82 m) drop cables (part number 2457-26765-072) from your Polycom sales representative. Page 9: Front Wall Requirements
Your room may have lights in the area outside of the “keep-out” area; however these lights must have the same temperature as the OTX lighting. Additionally, to minimize stray light, Polycom recommends that these lights be downward-facing, such as recessed can lights. -
Page 10: Lan Jacks
If you choose to install tabletop microphones rather than the standard Ceiling Microphone Arrays, you must purchase two HDX tabletop microphone array kits (Polycom part number 2215-23327-001). Each kit contains one microphone array and one 25-foot (7.6 m) cable. (Note that the microphone cabling is limited to this length.) -

Camera Bracket During the installation of the OTX 300, the installers must attach the camera bracket to the front wall of the room. To prepare for the installation of this bracket, you must drill mounting holes in the front wall in accordance with the placement plan on page 30. -

• To obtain the best acoustics, use a room in which the floor is carpeted or have carpeting installed in the room. • Polycom recommends that you install a black carpet made of tiles similar to the following: InterfaceFLOR™ Tectonics/Binary (Style Number 14137/Color Number 100060). 23 and 24. Polycom highly recommends that you do not locate the door on the front wall or the rear wall of the room because the width of the room would have to be greatly expanded to accommodate access around the OTX video wall or the rear wall of the OTX Complete Experience Kit. -

Herman Miller® Eames® Aluminum Group Executive chair (see http://www.hermanmiller.com/Products/Eames-Aluminum-Group-Chairs). This chair complements the décor of the OTX 300 in both style and size. If you do not purchase these chairs, Polycom highly recommends that you purchase chairs that are the same size, color, and shape to maintain the integrity of the room. -

Note that this table includes only the OTX components and not the participants, laptops, and lighting. Thermostat Polycom recommends installing an independently controlled thermostat on a side wall in the room. The operating temperature for the OTX equipment should be within 41° to 86° F (5° to 30° C). -

Preparing Your Room for the Polycom Open Telepresence Experience (OTX) 300 Installation Delivery Requirements You must ensure that the following delivery requirements are met: • Access is available to a loading bay or designated area that is protected from inclement weather and from excessive heat and cold. -

• Review your Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity. You must have sufficient bandwidth to support HD video as well as capacity for your existing data traffic. • Review your Quality of Service (QoS) settings. If you are using Diffserv, you can use Polycom’s Diffserv markings to fit into your current QoS schema. -
