The choice of film is an important part of
photograf)h y , nnd you have a wide vai·iety to
choo se from . Film s differ in a number of
ways including ASA rating, exp osw·e lati-
tude, color rendition and color t em perature
among ot/ier variables. Some, mch as in-
frared film, require the use of certain filters.
Depending
011
the type of film, a color
temperature conversion filter may be neces-
sary under certain lighting condit £ons. A nd,
of course, y ou have the basic choice be-
tween two ty pes of color film : color
negative film (for prints) and color reversal
(slide) film . Filrn can be purchased either in
cartridge form with varying numbers of
fram es or in bulk fo rm. Either type can l> e
loaded in th e A -1. Although bulk f ilm is a
little more complicated to handle

it
must be cut to t he desired number of fmmes
and handled
in.

rcquirrd, fillers can also be used to
emphasi=e certai11 colors fo r m ore clarity or
special effects. Ca11011 offers a wide variety
of f ilters for both black and wh ite and col01·
f ilms. It also offers a gelatin f ilter holder
which can hold u p to three filters at a tim e
and can be attac hed to variou s diam et er
lenses by m eans of adapters. Since the A -.1
has a through-t he-lens meter, th ere is no
need to m ak e any expo sure con-ect£on with
filt er f act·ors when a filtei·
