Using Your Remote Control
Inserting Batteries
1. Remove the battery compartment cover fr o m the remote control.

3. Replace the battery compartment cover .
Use your remote control from a distance of about 7m/23 feet fr o m the

The remote operates on line of sight, so if ther e is anything blocking the

to direct sunlight or strong artificial light.
•
Don't get the remote control wet.
•

Programming the Remote
The universal remote control that came with your monitor is alr e ady
programmed to operate most RCA, GE, and PROSCAN VCRs, DVD
players, laserdisc players, and satellite r e ceivers. This remote is also
capable of operating many other brands of r e mote-controllable electronic
components, but you must pr o gram it to do so.
Find Out If You Need to Program the Remote
To determine whether the universal r e mote needs to be pr o grammed,
VOLUME
turn on one of your components, such as a VCR. Point the r emote control
at the component and pr e ss the component button (for example, the VCR
button). Now press the ON•OFF button on the r e mote. If the component
doesn't turn off, you need to pr o gram the remote control in order for it to
operate that component.
